AA Driving School Low Mileage Franchises

The AA driving school now offers a low mileage instructor franchise for those ADIs who either work Part time or only cover a small geographical area and don't want to pay a full franchise fee.

There is a fixed weekly rate of £125 (inc vat as at July 2011), with each mile per week charged at 15p. All vehicles are fitted with an onboard computer to record weekly distances travelled.

The new franchise was probably introduced to temp more driving instructors to AA and follows the buy out of BSM in Feb 2011.

Essentially what will now happen is that a candidate will be given a series of instructions/directions to follow and will be expected to either follow road direction signs to a local place, or be given 3 or 4 directions to follow in the format of, ‘at the end of the road turn left, then at the end of the new road turn right, then at the roundabout take he 3rd exit’.

Driving lessons would be more fun and meaningful if the driving test will be changed. Independent driving lesson is much more helpful than the typical driving test. And students will learn faster and more clear with the new driving test. However, the government should also repair those road signs to avoid any accidents.

Introducing the independent test has actually helped pupils be more confident in making decisions. It makes them drive freely so I'm glad with gradual changes taking place.

The low mileage scheme will just encourage more instructors to park up and 'teach theory'.

A fully qualified, experienced, driving instructor is also more likely to cost less overall even if their hourly rate for driving lessons seems a bit higher than the special offers and bargain deals you find advertised in local newspapers or via flyers.

Great news you have shared. Thanks for sharing information and link. It is very useful for part time driving instructor..

Agree. Any scheme that means the instructor is considering cost of each mile driven must be a conflict of interest.
